Homemade food and Traditional Ales

Records can be uncertain for many old Devon inns. However, the history of The Old Inn is well recorded. We know, from the 1543 or 1547 reset stone, when it was first built. We also know that it was deliberately burned down, along with the parish poorhouse and three or four adjoining cottages, in the spring of 1806 and was rebuilt and has continued to be an Inn ever since.

It was originally built as the Church House. Nearly every parish possessed one. It provided for festivities, the brewing and dispensing of ale and accommodation for the rector's manor tenants.

Now it is home to new owners Ricky and Jean Woodham along with their daughter Kerry and grandaughter Lia welcoming you all to wine and dine in this traditional Inn.

The menu is made up of a variety of dishes many of which are home-made and freshly prepared using locally sourced meats and produce:

  • Homemade Steak and Kidney Pie
  • Fresh Fish Dishes
  • Vegetarian Dishes
  • Homemade Sweets

Food is served:
Mon - Sat: 12 - 2.00pm and 6.30 - 9.00pm
Sunday: 12.00 - 2.00pm

We have a range of traditional ales from local producers so come and taste the delicacies the area has to offer.

We are now open Mondays. Please note, we are currently closed on Sunday Evenings.

Please note, The Old Inn has limited disabled access due to the age of the building.
There is a ramp into the bar but steps leading to the toilets. The car park is large but at the moment does not have any designated disabled parking.

The rear entrance is through a cobbled courtyard which is very uneven and there is also a s slope and step into the cobbled archway leading to the bar area.
